Anyone remember that show? There was a male mannequin that came to life, people, animals I think? I don’t remember exactly. He had curly brown hair, and a great plaid cap.

Today’s melon isn’t exactly special, but it is a first for me. Michale make me document it. I wasn’t going to. I thought it was a train wreck.

I did this today and Michael has assured me it isn’t the train wreck I think it is. I told him some of (not all of) my “problem” was that the ink was darker on the towel (for the grey wash) than in the melon. I plan on doing a color study, black to water, before I shade anything else on a melon so I can see what’s what.

So yah, first grey-wash (crash course in grey wash lol), not too bad. Not great by any stretch of the imagination (I said it looked like I was doing high contrast to make a stencil to cut out and spray paint lol) but not the train wreck I see it as.

Yah, they are the same photo more or less. One had less glare, but one was easier to see. [singlepic=19,320,240,,]

Feeling kind of… better.

I’ve been looking at work of new artists (tattoo) – say 18/24 months or less – and my melon lines and fill look better than some of theirs. Really, objectively speaking, side-by-side comparison, my lines are just straighter, my fill is more solid.

Obviously not all of them, there are some really exceptionally talanted new artists out there. Seeing their work, I really feel like this is something viable that I can really do. Am I deluding myself? Not like, yah Jenn, if you work real hard and really get in there and try, but based on what I am doing *now*, I feel like it is something worth doing.

Not something I picked up as a lark (not as a lark, I really effing want to do this) and to put down just as quickly because I wasn’t awesome out of the starting gate. I just feel like… it’s something I could really excell at as long as I don’t let it fall by the wayside. I let so many things do that, or they lose my interest just as quickly as they gained it. Maybe this wont.
