Totally Bragging!

This is the swing set we bought the kids. I think we’re putting it together this weekend. We got it from BJs for 999.99 (not the 1599 that it’s listing for).

The Allegany has an oversized raised fort with wood roof, end gables and windows. There’s a 12 sq ft sun porch up there too! Climb up to the fort using the standard ladder or the solid rock wall. Sail down on the super speedy wave slide. Two belt swings and a trapeze bar provide hours of fun swinging and hanging. Under the fort there’s a lower deck with picnic table.
Features

* Oversized raised wooden fort with railings, roof, gables, and windows
* Raised sun porch
* Super speedy wave slide
* Lower deck with picnic table
* Solid rock wall ladder and standard ladder
* 2 belt swings and a trapeze bar

I am totally excited about this, we’ll be having a real, kids invited, birthday party next month and we can do it outside and still keep them occupied!! Um, the kids are excited too ;) We’re going to pick up a net-swing (it looks like a hammock folded in half) to do some home-based therapy with Mal, and the kids will have fun in it too. I think we’re ditching the trapeze bar for the net swing.

so much going on

Last Monday, no, two Monday’s ago, we took the kids to the dentist. It was a new dentist, one whose name was given to us by CMS and who took everyone’s insurance. Well, we were fine, we were fine we were fine, then it was time to go back and M freaked out. Couldn’t even get him in the chair for x-rays. So after he screamed, the staff did nothing but look at me (I had D go first, so M could watch, it didn’t work) and then closed the freaking door to muffle from the waiting area, I left. Michael had the other two kids looked at and cleaned and I phoned CMS, told the nurse about the office and asked for another number. I was given the number for Nova Southeastern, mainly because they can do pediatric sedation dentistry. Well, I left a message that day, and the machine said to expect about a week before the call was returned. I called back on  this past Thursday (over a week later) and was outright told the person had my info and forgot to call back, and I could expect a call to get my information to get into the system in 2 – 3 weeks. Um, no. My kid has a cavity that needs to be fixed, and it needed to be fixed last month, not next month. Now, just before all this happened, I called around and located the dentist we saw last time (who does not take M’s insurance, but does take the other two) and D has an appointment to have his teeth sealed (as suggested by the awful office we went to on Monday). Michael phoned Dr. Al to see how much having M’s teeth taken care of would cost out of pocket, and it turns out the day of D’s appointment is Dr. Al’s last day there, she is opening her own practice. So we’ll find out on Monday where that is and what ins. she will take. Long story short? The lady to said she forgot to call me back called me back about an hour later and got our address and stuff to put into the computer, but there is still a waiting list to be seen, so we’ll ask on Monday and see about having Dr. Al take care of his teeth in the mean time. Struggle!

Last Tuesday we took M for his PT intake. On Thursday we took him for his OT and ST intakes. While we won’t know for about a week, it sounded like they are going to focus on OT and ST and skip the PT. The office manager said it would take about a week to have the write-up done and sent to us and the doctor and we’d go from there.

The school hasn’t found out yet if M was approved for his aid for this coming school year. School starts in a few weeks, so I hope we find out soon! We haven’t gotten a denial letter yet, so that’s good news, right?  Speaking of, the meet & greet is on August 15, which is M’s birthday, and is the last day of camp, which kind of sucks because they are having a party at camp and since it’s his birthday I don’t want to pull him away from it. I am thinking Michael and I will go meet the teachers without the boys. School starts on the 18th!

The night of the 15th I am going to have cupcakes or something for M, and give him his little gift.

I got some 1gig MP3 players on super clearance at Target (15$!) for the boys for their birthdays. We’re still putting cash away for the swing set, so they wont have it until a little after their birthdays, I think.

Speaking of saving cash, I am going to attempt to try to be a little more frugal. Our credit score is coming up, our debt is coming down and I am pretty excited about that. Our monthly bills are a lot, but not a lot, if that makes sense. Set bills are

Ugh

I ate terribly yesterday and the day before, and I am all bloated and.. not crampy but not comfy. Definitely paying for it.

Need to go to the post today and the UPS drop box. I think we’ll go to the salad store… though I can make my down damn salad at home. The other night I had some baby greens, mushroom, sunflower sprouts, avocado and balsamic vinegar. It was tasty. I need to make some more cucumber salad too.

I really want an iPhone. Anyone out there have an older model they are willing to part with cheap? I’m on AT&T so it doesn’t need to be unlocked. I don’t need the new 3G one, and I can’t afford 400$ or 500$ to get one through AT&T anyway (I’m not up for contract renewal so I can’t even get one for 200$ + a new signed contract right now). I see them cheap on eBay, but they wind up at 300$ or so. I just want one of the old 8gig ones. I’d be willing to spend 100 – 150$ on a used one. Apple doesn’t have an refurbs last time I checked.

We’re getting the boys a swing set for their birthday this year. We’re 1/5 of the way to being able to pay cash for it (it’s a big wooden one that is a stupid amount of money but wont rust or be blown away) so I am hoping Michael can put away the rest in tips (how we have what we have so far) to get it by mid-September. I picked up a couple of cheap MP3 players (Target clearance for 15$ each instead of 60 or 70!) to give them on their actual birthday because I don’t expect to have the swingset until closer to Dorian’s birthday or possibly slightly after. So Mal gets his in August and Dor will get one in September

I come by it naturally

Apparently my Gram used to sit in her kitchen and throw utensils at her fridge. And windows. And anywhere else it made her feel better to throw them.

She was stuck at home with a houseful of kids (7 kids in nine years, two sets of twins) and nothing to do. They owned a grocery store for a while, so long hours there. My Zaide
put himself through law school at night in his forties, so she was home alone a lot then too.

She stayed and stuck it out because it was the best for the kids.

I am staying here because being on this land, having room for the kids and (future) animals is best for the kids.

I throw things all the time. It makes me feel (temporarily) better.

I always knew it was ok.

I feel pretty crappy though. I called her to see how she was and make her feel better, and wound up dumping on her. She said once she’s out of the hospital she’ll callm e every day to make me feel better. It made me almost cry. I really love my Gram. She said she tricked the meesa mashina again, she has five more chances. They sent Malachai a nice chunk of change for his birthday too, said to expect an equal amount for D. I want to use it to buy them a swing set.

Just so I don’t forget, Gram is ok, she has a blood infection, is on some terribly toxic antibiotic, and should be home soon.

Pam came over while I was on the phone with Gram and gave me some birthday money for Malachai. We’ll buy him some winter clothes, since we don’t have many. He has sweatpants and stuff, but no long sleeved shirts or anything. We’ll need to get a jacket too. I suspect I’ll be socking some money away and ordering from Hanna Andersson.
