Pricing has yet to be determined, and will be announced once they arrive and I give them a once-over.

A couple weeks ago I ordered 4 flip books and 25 prints from snapfish.com. They arrived yesterday or the day before and we looked through them. Disappointed is an understatement. There was one photo in each of the flipbooks that was scratched down the photo – same photo, some spot in each book. The prints were cropped (although the same photos in the books were not cropped).

I sent a note to snapfish yesterday telling them:

I just received my order – many of my photos were cropped, heads cut off, etc.. One of the photos in my photo book has a scratch down the center of the photo (same photo in all four identical books – the scratch is in the photo paper).

I do not want to return them, it’s more hassle than it’s worth, however, I will not be ordering through snapfish again.

I was not expecting to actually hear back, but I did this morning. I’ve been refunded the cost of the books to my snap fish account (so I can reorder the books) and refunded the cost of shipping to my credit card. The prints were negligible – I had 20 free and got five extra. Lesson learned, I guess.

So, I have four 45 page flip books to order. I am not one to pass up free items when given to me. I might order those cards I was talking about making instead.

So much for never ordering from them again?

If you ever wondered what *I* looked like from the back in my youth, here is a good facsimile.

View the entire album here – but I posted the good shots

So, my son was very … delicate before. He is outright feminine now. I hope he doesn’t get shit for it. I think he rocks, I just think it’s a shame I cloned him.

Halloween follow up

Well, we went out in between downpours. We made the entire neighborhood (about 100 houses, maybe half had lights on), and it’s started to drizzle again, so yay!, we made if in between rain drops. Kids were thrilled and I am just glad it stopped raining. No one else was out while we were out, but by the time we got back to our house, we saw a group.

Cut for tons of photos.

OK, here is some good advice I got from someone who I trust:

hi, there are good deals on d80s because they are coming out with d90s real soon. you can get a d80 and 2 lenses for around $1000. get the widest angle zoom and the longest focal length telephoto. they are probably the 18-55 and the 70-200 or 300. other than that, i saw a d60 kit in costco for less than 900. the d60 will take you a long way. i’m pretty sure it has a totally manual setting so you can get as creative as you want. anything over 8 megapixels is a waste unless you are doing 20×24 prints all the time. and if you do you can always get an internegative to print from. let me know what you got and good luck. you might also go to a photo shop and see what they have that’s used. they are some pretty good deals that way.

So I emailed him back with some more questions, but it looks like it will ultimately come down to these:

I just want to make sure I get the most for my money without overspending or getting junk.

I am looking at this one (the d60):

New opinions anyone?
