I’ve got some Punky Moms news in lieu of new content

I’ve been sick. Not deathly ill, but sick enough to not want to do anything except sleep. Of course, instead of sleep I have done laundry, went food shopping today, taken photos, edited photos, done other misc. work, you know, life goes on, mucous be damned. In lieu of real content, please peruse some of this older, but still pertinent content.

Punky Moms Holiday Ad Book!
What is the Holiday Ad Book you ask? It’s a one stop directory of places to shop! It’s more than a holiday gift “guide,” it’s a resource people will hang on to and reference all year long. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve directed someone to this place or that looking for the perfect holiday gift, baby gift, mama gift… you name it! Whether you sell Avon, Body Shop at Home, Candles, Clothing, jewelry, you have a place in our book!

Punky Moms got over 6200 front page hits in August alone, PunkyMomsForum.com got over 63000 (yes, three zeros!) and that is where our ad book will be available for permanent download. That is some serious exposure!
We want to have this created and ready for download and distro at the beginning of November for those who like to do their holiday shopping early! As long as the ads are in it will go out on time!

What a great way to reach over 1000 people (and growing daily!) all at once! We’re planning for our holiday shopping guide and we want your ads!

For the ridiculously inexpensive rate of 20$ per 1/8 page ad (the size of a business card) you can have a spot in our holiday digital book. The book will be available for free download to everyone as well as being distributed around the web.

Want a larger size? All of our rates are ridiculously inexpensive!

We have 16 1/8 page ads available @ 20$ each
We have 8 1/4 page ads available @ 35$ each
We have 4 1/2 page ads available @ 60$ each
We have 2 full page ads @ 100$ each

We want to have this created and ready for download and distro at the beginning of November for those who like to do their holiday shopping early! As long as the ads are in it will go out on time!

Long morning, long afternoon ahead

Today has been tired and it’s barely past noon.

Malachai had a dental appointment this morning. First of all, it’s around a half hour drive. Not so bad, but not great either. Then we wind up parking on the top floor of a six story parking complex, elevator down, figure out where to go and sign in. The doctor was great, tried to help calm him down, good with kids. It’s already better than the last dentist we tried to see. I barely got him in the chair – no xrays today either – and he was papoosed into the chair. I held his hands (they didn’t get them in there lol) and his legs and they used one of those doohickeys to keep his mouth open while she did a super-quick exam and cleaning/rinsing/brushed on the fluoride.

He has a cavity in the top front teeth (it’s smack in the middle of both, I guess technically it’s two) however, as he is six, she said we’ll just let them fall out on their own instead of treating the cavity. He isn’t in pain, which is why this visit got put off so long, so I wasn’t super worried anyway. I wanted it looked at just in case, and it has been, so good.

He has another appointment in six months.

He screamed the entire way out to the car (I carried him, heavy boy!)  and continued to do so in the car. Turns out he looooves music – I realized just how much in the past few days – so I was playing pseudo-DJ in the car to find stuff he likes.

We decided to take a quick trip into IKEA. Had some lunch (it had been long enough between the fluoride and getting there to eat) did some shopping, dropped Mal off at school as he was suitably calmed down and came home.

Our internet was down this morning, so I am catching up on email and some work that needed uploaded. Decided to take a blogging break.

This afternoon Mal has therapy, Michael is headed down to Sunrise to get some more work done. Meatballs and rice for dinner. Yay IKEA lol I need to get my camera out and take some photos. I’m not even participating in my own photo contests *sigh*

Michigan Republicans plan to foreclose African American voters

The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOP’s effort to challenge some voters on Election Day.

“We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses,” party chairman James Carabelli told Michigan Messenger in a telephone interview earlier this week. He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed.

State election rules allow parties to assign “election challengers” to polls to monitor the election. In addition to observing the poll workers, these volunteers can challenge the eligibility of any voter provided they “have a good reason to believe” that the person is not eligible to vote. One allowable reason is that the person is not a “true resident of the city or township.”

You have to read the whole article. They are targeting people who have lost their homes, and who have no proof of address. Perhaps they have moved outside of their voting area, or in with family and don’t have proof of address available (such as utility bills in their name).

New – new hair

New hair! We went purple instead of blue, and she redid the copper and red on top. And look at the fab ‘do she did! I love Chrissy. I’d totally send her to our photographers way if you guys were close – she does an awesome job. Sorry for the eight thousand photos – trying to get her fabulousness from all angles :-)

Today’s Special

Anyone remember that show? There was a male mannequin that came to life, people, animals I think? I don’t remember exactly. He had curly brown hair, and a great plaid cap.

Today’s melon isn’t exactly special, but it is a first for me. Michale make me document it. I wasn’t going to. I  thought it was a train wreck.

I did this today and Michael has assured me it isn’t the train wreck I think it is. I told him some of (not all of) my “problem” was that the ink was darker on the towel (for the grey wash) than in the melon. I plan on doing a color study, black to water, before I shade anything else on a melon so I can see what’s what.

So yah, first grey-wash (crash course in grey wash lol), not too bad. Not great by any stretch of the imagination (I said it looked like I was doing high contrast to make a stencil to cut out and spray paint lol) but not the train wreck I see it as.

Yah, they are the same photo more or less. One had less glare, but one was easier to see. [singlepic=19,320,240,,]
