Waiting

I feel like I spend a lot of time waiting. Why don’t I spend more time doing? Waiting for things to happen, waiting for someone to be interested, just waiting.

Well forget that!

We’re going to go visit my grandparents today. I need to talk to them about the floors. I have a list.

My uncle sent a big surprise box of goodies to the kids. Stuffed animals, hats, cars, and oddly, checks for the five of them. There was no letter of explanation. We wrote a thank you note this morning.

My camera is MIA. I am hoping someone in WV didn’t “find” it and aquire a new camera. It is not where I know I put it (I know, because I put it there so I’d know where it was). So my nice camera, my half gig memory card, and the photos on the camera, are currently missing. I really hope I find it when we get the garage cleared out.

We need to get a bed frame today. We brought one. We can’t find the extender bar to make it go from queen to king sized. No one remembers bringing it off the truck. I do remember it going onto the truck. Weirdness abounds. Perhaps the extender bar is where my camera is.

My dad took Buffy for a walk yesterday (or Buffy took him for a walk). She likes him now.

Apu, the large white koi, keeps nibbling on the large parrotfish (who has no name). I wonder if Apu is like a vulture and the parrot is going to die. Or maybe he has a crush on the parrot. Either way, the parrot doesn’t seem to mind.

Pocho the puffer is back in his own tank, which has found a home on the kitchen counter.

We looked at new kitchens the other day. They don’t cost as much as we thought, and dad said if there is any money left over, we might redo the kitchen. Then he said “you are getting a whole new house and I am footing the bill.” I smiled. I’d trade anything to not get the house, because when we get the house, it will be because I have no parents left.

There is a tear on my left ear. The bottom of the lobe is swollen, and it was bleeding yesterday. I took the o-ring off the back and I think it’s stuck to the jewelry I have in there. I hope it heals soon.

Neglectful Nelly

I have been lately. So let us get caughtup, shall we?

Last Saturday was Michael’s last day at work (not yesterday, but the one before) and Sunday anad Monday we spent packing. Tuesday we picked up the truck, and two other people to help pack said truck, and spent the day putting furniture and boxes in. We spent most of Wednesday doing that too.

We finally left around 3 PM. At 3.30 PM Malachai vomited in the car. I stopped on the side of 77S to clen him up, get him undressed, and put him in a hoodie and my jacket. Yes, the clothes I had left aside to take in the car wound up in the truck.

Then we were off!

At around 4 PM Michael left, and we caught up to eachother around 7 PM. I stopped for dinner and gas, and all told we (the kids and I) spent around 2 hours hanging out in a McDonalds parking lot. We got back on the road around 9. Oh, Michael got some clothes out of the truck for the boys (Dorian had an accident while we were waiting on Michael, since I couldn’t take one naked, one half naked and one dressed child into McDonalds to use the bathroom. Entirely my fault for making him wait though.)

So we drove. And drove and drove and drove. Around 4AM we stopped (the first rest stop on 95 into Georgia after it hooks up with 26W) and napped for about an hour. At 5AM we got going again. At 7.15 we stopped for about a half hour, and got going again. Around 12ish we stopped for food at the Sanford exit (we hit the Fla line at about 8 AM) after my having gotten off at the last three exits because they said there was food. I found none. I had to stop again around 2 I guess, and all but passed out for close to 30 minutes, which is what got us home safe and sound. At 4.30 or so I pulled into the driveway, Michael was about 15 minutes behind me.

We spent Friday and Saturday unloading the truck. We need to clean out the cab, get gas, and take it back today.

My dads freshly cleaned out 2 car garage is now packed full of our stuff. The only stuff not in the garage are the tanks (fish, turtle & tortoise), beds, piano, and some kitchen stuff that I’ve already unpacked.

The boys are happy to be here, I just need to get us settled in enough to get them out to do stuff.

We went and looked at flooring yesterday morning, so we should be able to be in our room in a week and a half or so. We’re hanging out in the living room on an air matress.

Anything else? I don’t think there is. Miss Mandy is (I think) going to swing by sometime today, which is nice. I haven’t seen her in well over two years, maybe over three. It’s kind of sd, she only lives in Jaxx, but my god, it is such a long and boring drive up 95! I was greeted by packages, boxes and bags of goodies when I got here. I’ll need to take and post photos when I find my camera.

What sucks is it’s a swap gift

It is my first attempt at fulling (which didn’t really happen b/c I knit tight, I think, but I’m going to give it another go) AND my first bag. Oh, and to top it off, I massivly altered the pattern. It’s the One Skein bag, and it said cast on 60, I cast on 90, and did my own math to follow the pattern, but my handles wound up a bit off anyway, as did my increase, which I have sort of kidden in the side crease. I think the handle wound up off b/c of the wonky increase.I so I am a bit shamed to send it as my swap gift, but I am also out of time (I knit quite slow, usually in 15 – 20 minute intervals), so off it goes, along with a similar note as to it’s… uniqueness.

Oh, and I buond off in the green, thinking it would make a neat stripe at the top. Nope, I thought wrong. Live and learn. I think I’ll be sending some extra goodies.

Yarn & Knitting Goodness

I got my swap goodies from the One Skein swap the other day and haven’t had a chance to post!

mega boot stretch yarn

I don’t have pictures (um, mostly b/c I am on the laptop and not the desktop and I can’t get them from my camera to my laptop) but I got 100g of Mega Boots Stretch in this variegated pinkish/orangish/yellowing (mostly magenta-pink though) yarn. It’s plied with black the whole way through, so it’s more like the colours in it are accent. I’ll have to find a photo. Here’s one!

Here’s the details on that yarn as per the site:

Meilenweit Mega Boot Stretch

Brand: Meilenweit Mega Boot Stretch Lana Grossa
70% Washable Wool; 23% Nylon 100 grams 430 yards
8 sts=1″ US1-2 Needles Hand or Machine wash

So good stuff! And since my first partner flaked on me, my Yarn Ambassador sent me two skeins! My second skein was from Artyarns, here’s the details:

YARN: ULTRAMERINO 4 119
100% Merino Wool
Gauge: 6-3/4 sts = 1″
Recommended Needle Size: #4
Approx. yardage = 191 yards
Approx. Weight = 50 grams

And here is their stock photo (don’t worry, I saved & uploaded it to my own server):

I also stopped in the local yarn store in PKB the other day and got some stuff. The labels are upstairs, so you all have to wait. I also picked up some size 0 DPN’s (um, impulse buy, but I didn’t have any and needed them) and that cute sheep measuring tape from Lantern Moon (also impulse, but everytime I buy from Knitpicks I put it in the cart and take it out like five times).

I’m knitting that cute clutch bag out of the One Skein book, I’ll take photos when I’m done. I didn’t have bulky and the LYS didn’t have appropriate bulky, so I got something else, went down in needle size and it is smaller but I think it’ll work. I may line it instead of felting it. I’ll have to see what size it really is off the circs. It’s so hard for me to tell.

So thank you Secret Yarn Gal, you freaking rock. I hope my yarn gal thinks I rock. I sent some cotton yarn the first time, and two skeins of recycled sari yarn this time (two b/c they are pretty short). I however do suck and it hasn’t been in fancy packaging or anything, so I plan on making up with my knitted goodness to her.
