Our stove is 13 years old (is my math right? We moved in/had the house built in 97, but we didn’t actually get in until early 98 IIRC). It’s a GE electric range. The cheapest thing the builders could put in. Today it’s a 300$ stove for the new model of the same.

So my GE electric stove has been kind of busted for a while. The handle broke and we (in order) mighty putty’d it on, glued it on, and duct taped it on. You see, the stove itself was, and is, fine. We jsut had a trashy handle. No big. Then the glass front of the oven door lost some screws. How? I have no fucking clue. I just know the bottom started swinging out whenever we opened it. Whatever, we were just more careful opening it.

So Saturday morning I looked at stoves online, just to see if there were any sales in our price range. Not so much. I did see a beautiful Bosch for three grand tho.

Saturday night the entire glass front fell off int he middle of making dinner. Thank god Sara was making dinner or dad would accuse me to rigging it. So we duct taped the fucking front on (carefully, the inside was hot!) and finished the cookies and turned it off.

Sunday morning we went looking at stoves. Sears had the current GE model, but not in stock so we left and went to Home Depot.

I am now the proud owner of this beauty:

because my daddy loves me and figured it would shut me up the longest about the double wall oven I really want LOL

I did check out the GE, but the one we got has the added bonus of extra cooking space, instead of wasted drawer space (because electric ranges don’t have broiling drawers like gas ranges do).

He also let me charge four new tires this morning instead of driving on my baldies. The tires were kind of a shock, I knew I needed two, not all four, plus my regularly scheduled maintenance, which is why I was at the dealership to begin with. Stupid cars.

* one young Thai coconut
* one banana (large-ish)
* 1 nectarine, skin on, cut it off the pit
* eyeball some honey (I over did it, but I’d say a few tablespoons at most)
* fill with ice to 6 cup mark on blender pitcher

Recipe Instructions
Use above ingredients in this order:

coconut, banana, nectarine, honey, ice

Blend to smooth. You can add water if it’s too thick, but I found it was just the right consistency.

I read this and started crying. I don’t know if everyone will/would, but stories like this always make me cry. I always see myself in them. I think all siblings of special needs children are like this (or I’ve never met one who wasn’t). It’s almost the same as a parent/child relationship, but it’s different too. I would have given my arm for my sister to be normal. I would have done anything. I used to tell my gram to rub her legs, so she could walk. I wanted to be a therapist when I grew up. I took care of her, I loved her, and I defended her to strangers all the time. A pierce of me died when she did, and it’s a piece I notice missing all the time. A huge piece of her grew in me, and I know it’s there every day when I interact with my own children.

I feel for this little boy. He has no idea. His entire life is already different from his peers, and it isn’t better and it isn’t worse, but it is most definitely different. He will grow up knowing things that I wish we could instill in every child in the world. He will grow up a little faster, perhaps he already has, and he will grow up a little slower, because that’s just how it is. I wish him and his brother the very best.

I did not get the sexy chrome juicer, I have the white one. You can read all about it here if you are interested. It’s a masticating juicer and makes things like yummy banana “ice cream” too.

I can’t find the actual site for the blender, but here is a place selling it so it has a desc. It’s similar to the Vitamix and Blendtec blenders.

I cannot wait for breakfast tomorrow I’ve got a freezer and fridge and counter full of fruits and veggies and goodness.
