Bah Humbug

No, it’s not that bad. Give me some credit. We’re a week away from Channukah. All but one main gift is wrapped (one isn’t even here yet), I’ve got some extra goodies that will be here on Wednesday on their way as well. I think I might pick some of their stuff out and set it aside for… later. I don’t know when later will arrive, but it’s tempting. While we did not over buy, we did wind up with some extras. I am all about setting them aside as special gifts for special things.

The 21st is the first night. We’ll be at shul for a bit for their festival, and my Gram & Aunt are coming over for dinner that night. The next night my Gram & Zaide are coming over. Busy week ahead! I need to make sure we have candles, and the menorah is clean, not to mention the house. We need to make latkes. Fresh or from a mix? I don’t know yet.

The kids are out of school the 2oth – 4th. We’ll go up to LCS I think, and the park, and some other stuff. Michael has some bowling coupons, so that’ll be fun.

I had this huge, actual post planned out, but it left. Maybe it iwll come back later.

updatey goodness

I haven’t really posted in a while. Everyone is well. Dor made honor roll last quarter, Mal got an “honorable mention” for trying hard. Mal is having some trouble in school – not from a knowledge stance, but from an activity/participation stance. We’ll have a meeting soon to figure out what to do. I think we’re due for a mid year IEP anyway.

Thanksgiving was nice – my gram and aunt came over, we had a feast. Ham, roastbeast, brisket, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, green beans, macaroni & cheese, garlic potatoes, party potatoes, and I can’t remember what else. We recently ran out of leftovers (rightovers).

I went in and had my hair done up in dread-twists on this past Monday. These photos are from today. They took 7.5 hours from start to finish (minus a 20 minute break).

Yes, they are small – they will bulk up a bit once the twist lets go a little, and I wanted the smaller ones for better coverage. I have them sort of pinned back in these photos.

I have been busting my ass over at azxureDawn to not only get work done that I have, but bring in more. I can’t win – either I am too idle for my own happiness, or I am too swamped to keep up. I wish I could find a happy medium.

I am going with my dad in two weeks to finish the kids holiday shopping, but most of it is done. I didn’t stand by not spending any money this year, but all told I think we spent under 150$ on all three combined. We got some inexpensive little stuff, and Michael got some good black Friday deals. They each got a metal slinky, a mini gumball machine and legos. We also got a SpeedRacer Wii game, Guess Who, some other Wii game (I can’t rememeber – it was a collection of mini games), the Ladybug Game, Kung Fu Panda (10$ @ CVS!), HotWheels Wii game, a dinosaur game and a sea monster game. Eshiva is getting one more thing picked up this evening, and my dad will get them each two more things (I try very hard to give one thing every night of Channukah, so they each get eight total). Dor asked for more Star Wars books and another Didj game, so there are his two, and I have no clue what to get the other two. I also need to pick up a cord for my brother and one more gift (they’ve outgrown needing eight things… I hope!), and something for my sister, and something for my dad. I am thoroughly stumped on his gift. Michael got a new tattoo machine and a GPS for his holidays gifts (he totally got them both himself, but both were splurges).

For Sale: Full Vsmile Plus 7 Games, used, but works great

Sorry to kill your friends page people.

I am getting rid of said Vsmile. It’s an older one (we got it a few channukahs ago) but you can easily upgrade to the “newer” games just buy purchasing the new controllers.

I have the old body. It does not have the microphone thingie on it, but does have storage for six games in the top, and we kept one in at all times (so it stores 7 total). Ours is purple and orange.

I have two controllers. They are the model without the drawing part, they just have a huge button, three little buttons and a joystick.

I have a brand new power cord – we did have to replace it, but the old one was three years old. Sometimes I have to push the power button twice, but since we replaced the power cord, it hasn’t been a problem that I noticed.

I have seven games:

Dora’s Fix-it Adventure
Toy Story 2 Operation: Rescue Woody
Superman The Greatest Hero
Blue’s Clues Collection Day
Alphabet Park Adventure
Shrek Dragon’s Tale
Lion King Simba’s Big Adventure

My OBO includes lowering the price if you think I’ve asked too much. I got rid of the television is was hooked up to, and I refuse to hook it up anywhere else, so it’s taking up space.

75$ gets it shipped to you priority as soon as payment clears into my PayPal or your check clears into my bank. Think 75 is too much? Make me an offer. You can email me if you want to azxure 2 azxuredawn . com (no spaces) . Item is sold *as is* Last time it was plugged in it worked but I am making zero guarantees on the unit itself (unlike the camera which I know works fab!)

Brown paper packages tied up with string…

No, not sex toys. Get your mind up outta there. Last year I posted a list of 10 things I want right now (OK, two Novembers ago) Here is that list:

  1. gift card(s) to Circuit City. I want to buy this camera, and I only have 100$ towards it right now got it fairly close to when the list was originally posted
  2. a new iPod. I have a 4gig mini, and I’d like one with a larger hard drive. Got a new one for Channukah this year
  3. a 30gig or larger external harddrive for our PC. This one is really for my husband. He got one, though I can’t remember when, and I have one as well.
  4. stylish storage bins for my yarn and its accouterments. Kind of. I got a metal and canvas bin4 drawer stand from BB&B. Not exactly stylish, but functional and … functional.
  5. a new phone (I love this one). THe RAZR sucks, don’t get one. Really. Got a new phone in… November of last year (so about a year after posting the desire for a new one). It is a samsung, but not the model I linked to.
  6. gift card(s) to Hanna Andersson so I can go clothes shopping for my kids.
  7. make a donation to UCP, Chabad or Komen.
  8. yarn, of the natural fiber variety I’ve gotten oodles of yarn, and sold oodles of yarn I never used. Michael says it’s a sickness.
  9. anything from my amazon wishlist. my battery is about to die, so no link just yet.
  10. make a wish. any wish. just make sure it’s one right from your heart. everything on here is material. yes, they are things i’d love to have, but in the end, whatever your heart wishes for the most, that is what i want for you.

So, ten more things I wish I had right now are:

  1. a maid, once a week or every other week to come do the bathrooms and floors.
  2. a second car, even a beater, so Michael can take it to work and leave me the van
  3. a fenced in yard
  4. health insurance
  5. a gift certificate to my salon
  6. a room to turn into a studio, any kind of studio.. a studio that can be changed from one kind to another
  7. gift cards to hanna andersson – i love her stuff, i can’t afford it more than once a year, and only a few items then
  8. my youngest to be potty trained
  9. indestructible furniture
  10. peace in my home

It’s a month

It’s an emotional month for me – Dec 7 was my sisters birthday, she would have been 26 this year. I look down at my arm, and am reminded of how many things time does not devour, or not quickly.

We are in the middle of Channukah, which was always a fun time for me, and in addition to basically half of my family being gone, it’s been a number of years since my entire extended family was able to get together for the holidays. I found out the other day my uncles were lamenting the same thing. The ones who were local (more or less) got together. The rest of us are so spread out :(

My uncle found this letter my mom wrote to her parents when she was 22, he scanned it in and sent it along to the family. Not only did it make me smile, and cry, but it provided my next tattoo, her closing will be along my other arm, so I can look down and see it always.

It’s a PDF, I’ve added a link, but posted is the piece.
