So, the putty packing stuff came off today

and it lasted longer than he said it would. He also said it would feel like a burn. No. Not so much. It feels like I skinned the roof of my mouth. Go figure. Hope it’s feeling better by Monday night. We’re going out to dinner.

In lieu of real content, quick update stolen from PMs

I can’t remember what the last ting I really posted was, and I don’t really feel like looking.

Before the end of January, I completed my first tattoo. It was smaller than a quarter, but it fulfilled my own requirement of doing this before the end of January. I know it was stupid, but this has been going on for two years, and I told myself if I wasn’t ahead of where I was last year, or the year before, that was it. So Michael let me do a cute piece Malachai drew a bit ago and I don’t feel so much pressure from myself now. Phew!

We went to Orlando (Disney) in January as well, both to celebrate with Michael and Sara who turned 18 and to celebrate Eshiva turning 5. It was a super quick overnight trip, so we didn’t make plans to visit with anyone. She had a blast. She got her birthday pin and heaven forbid anyone not say Happy Birthday to her – she made damn sure they saw her pin lol

Dorian went to the orthodontist and he goes back the end of March to get his braces. Malachai hasn’t started his yet, but we’re getting there! He goes back I think the end of this month.

I went to the periodontist and had a gum therapy transplant thingie done yesterday. I am slightly better than miserable but not entirely well. It was a stupid nothing and I am surprised it took so much out of me. I put the details behind a spoiler tag for those who don’t want to hear. It’s not so bad, but it’s not so good either.

83

I just called my gram to wish her a happy birthday. 83. Long run, hm? I wish she could be around for 83 more. I call every year, and every year for the past few she’s alluded to this or that. Most phone calls (I call at least once a week) allude to “only so much longer” or the like.

Somehow I call her up for happy, and wind up realizing sooner than I like it will be one less Happy Birthday call to make in the year. There are already too few.

Happy Imbolc everyone who celebrates it. Sorry to precede yearly wishes with morose thoughts. It’s how my brain works. Five years ago today I was in labour. I was miserable. Labour stopped. That child stayed in eight more days. She’s still stubborn, like her mama. I’ll probably ramble on about that later though.

February 2010

In January I posted this. So below is the January list, with listing items purchased.

At the end of the month I plan to re-evaluate the list, see what I can cross off entirely (decide we don’t actually need), what I can maybe move to March’s list (and note if I’ve been saving for it), and what I can actually purchase. This months wish list:

  • a good video camera – have not been saving, but I am looking at a new P&S cam with video capability
  • Nintendo DSi for the kids – especially Malachai purchased Feb 5 2010
  • new bike for Fish
  • iMac to replace my PowerBook which is dying purchased Feb 5 2010
  • new shelves for my cookbooks
  • Also need to fix the computer monitor issues.
  • Nook to replace Sony PRS when they die – this is kind of on-going. I don’t expect the Sony’s to break anytime soon
  • pasta attachment for Kitchenaid
  • tamper and wrench for blender
  • new pitcher for blender?
  • this box of nifty from NatGeo

My intention is to recreate a “wishlist” every month (I usually keep track of these things on a piece of paper in my bag or on my phone) and really track our wants and needs and make goals of them.

Dental Drama

No, not really. Just got back from the periodontist (looking for one in Coral Springs? Check out Dr. Richard Morrow @ 954-345-4748. No I don’t get paid for that, he was just awesome.) and while overall my gums are healthy enough, the area in front of my bottom front teeth is thin. I’m looking at a soft tissue transplant to build it up a few millimeters so I can get braces. While he’s in there, I’ll be the proud recipient of a frenulectomy (sp?) so my lip doesn’t wear my gums down over the next 50-some years. Yay!

Sometimes in seeking, we don’t always find

Sometimes I go looking for my mom, because I’ve forgotten she isn’t there, and I am surprised when I can’t find her.

Last week Sara was talking downstairs and I swore it was mom. I don’t hear her in my own voice, although I hear her in my words. I was pleasantly surprised to find her in Sara’s.
