From Wednesday:
I went to the orthodontist today. The tooth I went to the dentist about last May? The one they said was fine, but we have to fill these four other cavities in these other teeth? Yah, it’s got potential bone loss, gum loss, etc… and she can’t start my orthodontia until I either get the go ahead from another dentist (I have a referral) or get it fixed, because if she starts moving teeth around it could abscess. :shake_fist:
So lets add some potentially major dental bills to fix that tooth on top of the 4500$ for the orthodontia. Yep.
My previously fixed and perfect teeth have been shifting back over the past 20 or so years and need to be put back in their place, and a whip toting dominatrix won’t cut it. Oh well. On the bright side, it should alleviate the tooth pain I’ve been having once it’s all done.
Dad is going to help me with my taxes tonight so I can see how affordable their payment plan really is, and I’ll call the dentist in the morning and set up that appointment.
On the even brighter side, I hopefully wont have the (nice) car parked in my mouth that my mom had when she was 45 – 50 by getting this POS car now
I had major orthodontia done from the time I was 10ish to 13. Teeth pulled, palate expander, braces, the works. They even threatened to break and reform my jaw *sigh* It was fun! Not.
Apparently without proper retainers for-fucking-ever the teeth shift back. Who knew? Well, apparently the dentist knew and never told me!
She said just braces and retainers would put everything back. She said my face is well aligned and symmetrical (thanks doc, but I knew that
) but since my teeth are kind of collapsing back in (like a flan in a cupboard) they need to be put back to where my braces and whatnot had them in the first place.
I was told I have a short frenulum (I knew that, piercing my tongue is a bitch!), and she said something about clicking in my jaw (and was surprised I didn’t hear or feel it) and kept asking me about headaches and stuff. Hell, she asked if I was a forcept baby and about a small scar I have below my nose lol There is a lot that impacts teeth apparently!
I just did my taxes, and after I pay for summer camp for the kids (hardly “camp”, 3 days a week for 10 weeks), there should be enough left to make the initial payment and make a dent in the remaining payments. Yay!
