OK, I *finally* got an email from our host. Our comment system was targeted (the evil spam) recently, bumping out CPU usage up to 50% CRAZY!
Sadly, they’ve disabled two main folders that our site uses to run on. I cannot reach them until after 9AM EST to turn the folders back on (but they have gotten two messages from me this morning regarding this) so I can disable that function. I’m in a catch-22 because without access I cannot disable it, and they don’t want it on because it eats up the CPU.
The ID10T at tech support was WRONG. It wasn’t our email system, it was the trackback on the comments. I disable that, we’re golden. I love when tech support can’t tech or support worth a damn.
We are looking into some other hosting options (to prevent something like this from happening again) but nothing that will happen in the next five minutes.
Hopefully we’re be up *and* functional in a few hours!
