It’s really amazing. We released the PR yesterday to some PD distro sites, and I’ve had three people contact me today already about a story on the site. We were also mentioned in the Gothamist.
Punky Moms is taking off! We’ve have members pouring in, posting too! I don’t care what your member count is, if they don’t post, it doesn’t matter. The bulk of them are actively posting, the ones who aren’t are using our front end (the portal). Our link directory is taking off. Oodles of links added, and I am adding a bunch from other sites who won’t necessarily take the time to add their own (major corporate sites like Crayola). Our auctions are a little slow, but we’ll fix that. I think once we get more traffic to them, it’ll straighten itself out. People are buying from the cafe press store. Michael’s logo is a hit, as well as the other designs we’ve created.
Just so this is a little more than a link farm for PM’s, yesterday we accomplished a ton! We (Fish) cleaned out the turtle tank. It was nasty. Nasty. So now it’s all clean, and very not green. The turtles are huge. Squirt and Scar are about the same size, almost three inches long! Hidalgo and Jumper are about the same size, two inches or so, but Hidalgo is a biter :/ (Hidalgo is the one we thought we lost but found under the couch two weeks later. I think his expedition made him bitter.) They are so cute though! I love our turtles.
We’re making a list of things we need to buy, make or aquire for the shop in PKB. I am more excited than I can find words for about this move. Oh, I didn’t tell you all! Pam wrote me a note saying they expected to be moved out by May. Now, we told them not to rush, as we are not in a hurry, but to have a time frame makes it much more real. My mom expects us gone by June or July. My dad thinks we should stick around. Business is good at Whole Addiction, and he thinks as long as the money stream is flowing freely we’d be stupid to leave it. Mom also keep saying she’ll be fine by then, so we wont be needed here. I think we’ll wait until April or May and see how she is, and how business is, and decide then. If we do go, I want to go no later than October. If we wait longer, it will not be until after winter.
I think we’ll leave the Mazda here, mom said maybe they’ll buy it and we’ll buy a new used car from Michael’s dad for him (we can’t be there with only one car, but it’ll be too hard to take the Mazda, so I think she’ll buy us a 2000$ “special” (which is about what the Mazda is worth anyway, if even) to replace it, so we still wont have two car payments). We’ll see. I honestly don’t think the Mazda will make the move, or work well in the winter. It’s been a Florida car almost it’s whole life.
So much to do. My only real and real-to-life worry is that first month for money. We dont have the money put away to live on (we did sock some away, but not enough for everything), but we’re going into this expecting to be living off credit, so we’ll be able to get out from under it too.
It’s coming together. Michael is very happy to get me involved in the shop, teach me to tattoo (yay!!) have a real old fashioned family place. I am all about the art gallery, but I’ll need to collect some pieces to open with, so it isn’t as pressing as the shop, especially if we find a location to house both. We’re thinking two story, shop downstairs, gallery up.
I’m all excited. Scared, in a great way. Right now I feel like to world is opening up to me. I might not feel like it in five minutes, but right now, all things are possible.
I found a homeschool group up there, and we’ll contact the UU church and see if we can start a Spiral Scouts group. Things will be good. Hard at first, but worth it in the end.
So that’s everything, or close enough for now. I don’t know who is reading this blog, or trolling it for that matter, but if you care, them’s the plans! We’ll have our own home. No, we didn’t buy it, but it a nice, cozy, family home that I hope is, one day, the one we leave to the kids. We’ll have a shop we can do the same with. I have this picture perfect 50′s family in my head, except they have tattoos and loud kids. I really want that to be us, and I think we are well on our way.

i am really happy things are coming together for the move and the shop. you are totally amazing with everything you take on!
Thanks Jackie! Sometimes it’s so overwhelming, but I am so much happier with a zillin things to do. Between PM’s, planning a move, we’ll need to pack what isn’t already packed… we’ll certianly be busy!
Awesome! I’m so happy for you guys.
