Dorian started school on Monday. He only goes two days a week, Mon & Thurs. Well, he is home today. He sleeps at my moms on Sun & Wed nights so she can take him (she works at the school, so no reason for me to have to get up at that ungodly hour as well lol). Monday he was fine. He cried a bit after recess, b/c he saw his uncle on the playground and then he had to go in. He calmed down quickly. I had to run my brothers homework to him this morning, and Dorian was crying from the moment he stepped into the room. By the time we got there to drop off the homework, he hadn’t calmed down, so we took him to breakfast and on a few errands I decided to run since we were up and out already. He tells me the problem is he hates the music. On Monday, he was upset he didn?t get a turn on the car at recess.

I hate to leave him there crying. I really feel it is more unhealthy to do that (force him to stay and cry) than to “teach him a lesson” that he can’t always have his way or he can’t always have me.

My mom thinks perhaps it is because he is only two days a week, and in a class of 3 year olds (most of whom are 5 a days a week, but whom also went to the school last year). She thinks if I put him in the 4 y/o class (mandatory 5 days a week, I pay whether he goes or not) he might do better.

She is going to ask if he can transfer into that class, and if I can either spend the day in the 2 y/o class so I am near by (Chai can play with them for the day) OR if I can stay with him in the 4 y/o class (which I think is a bad idea and precedent to set) to see how he does.

I had planned on home schooling. The two days a week was perfect, gave me time with Chai and time to rest as well. We do school stuff the other three days, and usually on Saturday as well (sun-mon were our off days, but now that he has school on mon, who knows).

I just don’t know. Am I being over protective in not wanting him miserable (I seem to recall loving school, yah I didn?t love the first few days, but I according to mom I got over it after a few minutes, it didn’t go on for an hour)?
