I sit, staring out the window,
Waiting for you to arrive.
Will you never come?
Trapped in this castle,
Up high, like rapunzel,
If I let down my hair
will the good prince come?
A car comes up the road,
I can hear it’s engine long before
I see it’s lights.
I am so hopeful,
But it just goes past the house.
Past the room.
I am a prisoner.
My mind goes blank,
My eyesight dims,
Blackness encircles me,
And I drown in it.
I wrap myself with my tattered blanket,
It’s all I have left,
They took everything else.
When they locked me up tight in this room.
Shivering, I rock gently,
Waiting for the next sound,
The next light,
Waiting for you, my prince,
To come rescue me
For this room.
